The exhibition, which presents the winning project of the competition for the area surrounding the Cathedral, can be visited at the Casa das Asociacións from 1 to 8 June.
Two guided tours will take place on Tuesday 2 June, in the morning and afternoon.
Santiago de Compostela, 29 May 2026. Following its stay at the Casa do Cabido, the exhibition “Compostela nocturna, mírame!” moves today to the Casa das Asociacións in Cornes. This travelling exhibition forms part of Santiago City Council’s aim to decentralise the dissemination of the winning project in the lighting competition for the monumental surroundings of the Cathedral, enabling residents from different urban areas to learn first-hand how the night-time landscape of the heart of the city will be transformed.
The exhibition in Cornes presents an adapted version of the panels, covering the history of lighting in Santiago, the objectives for protecting the night sky, and the details of the winning project, Hermes, by the studio Intervento, as well as the finalist proposals.
Guided tours on 2 June
To explore the technical and artistic details of the proposal in greater depth, two free guided tours will be held next Tuesday, 2 June, at 12:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. These sessions will also explain the content of the Hermes proposal, which achieved the highest score thanks to a minimal-intervention strategy that avoids placing spotlights on the roofs of the Cathedral and envisages energy savings of 68%.
Sustainability and public participation
The exhibition in Cornes marks the final stage of this preliminary phase before the launch of the pilot project in Praza das Praterías. Through this exhibition, the City Council seeks to give visibility to a process that combines technical innovation with the utmost protection of heritage and an improved night-time urban experience.
The exhibition can be visited in Cornes until 8 June. This initiative forms part of Santiago’s Destination Tourism Sustainability Plan, co-financed by the City Council, the Xunta de Galicia and the Government of Spain.
